One of the most essential skills that you can have as an online course maker or any type of an online entrepreneur is the ability to make a simple website for your business, all by yourself.

And one of the best ways to create websites is to learn WordPress.

WordPress is the most popular content management system which is used for making websites. More than 90% of websites you see daily are built using WordPress.

The best part about WordPress is that it’s very beginner friendly to use since you don’t need to use coding.

In this article I don’t want to go into WordPress and its functioning but here I want to make a very important point – which is understanding that you need to learn how to make your own website.

A lot of beginners online entrepreneurs make the mistake out outsourcing their website development to a freelance web developer. This has two problems:

1. It will cost you a lot more
2. Any time something goes wrong in your website, you will be required to get in touch with your web developer who will 100% not answer your calls since he/she knows that they have already got paid and any extra work is not worth it. Even if they do answer your call, be prepared to get charged again for that little work.
   

As you can imagine, the scenario above can be a frustrating one.

Here’s what you need to understand. When you are starting out, you don’t need a very fancy website. You basically need something called as a landing page, which refers to the a page where the details of your product or service (in this case, your online course) are mentioned.

It’s very easy to create such pages in WordPress.

In my online entrepreneurial journey, I can confidently say that learning how to make websites using WordPress is the second most important skill I ever learned (Getting traffic via Facebook ads being the first).

And any time you face any small issues on your website, you can always use a site like Fiverr to hire a freelancer to sort out that issue.
