The Secret to Getting International Students for Your Online Courses
Currently I have students in 141 countries!! (as of 30th January 2021)
Do you know the number one secret which no online coach speaks about?
I’m not telling you. LOL
Just kidding.
Click Trainers is all about revealing hidden secrets and that’s what I’m going to do today.
The secret of getting international students from multiple countries is to release free courses on Udemy.
Students get attracted to free courses like bees to a honeypot.
Even if you release one good free course on Udemy, you will instantly see your exposure reach international levels.
Now you may not make money from it but getting international exposure is great for your personal brand and it also makes you an authority when it comes to selling your future paid courses.
And the best part is that you don’t have to waste any effort. If you’ve gone through Online Course Blueprint, you already know that I am a big advocate on having a free course as a lead magnet for your online course marketing funnel. I call that the test drive course.
You can put that same test drive course on Udemy so you achieve two objectives with a single effort.
There are a couple of other advantages of doing this:
Promoting your online coaching business within the course
Because you will be getting a large volume of students to sign up for your online courses, you can also take advantage of this by putting links to your blogs, social media accounts, etc within the course curriculum or the course messages inside the Udemy interface (Udemy allows this as long as you are not sending people to a page where they need to sign up).
Sending Emails to the students to promote your business
While Udemy does not give you the emails of the students who signed up for your course, it does allow you to send emails to them using the Udemy email interface.
They have two types of emails – Educational and Promotional. Promotional emails allow you to send emails that contain links to something that is deemed commercial, like links to other courses.
Udemy doesn’t allow you to send Promotional emails to students who signed up for a free course but it does allow you to send them educational emails.
So you can definitely send links to your blog articles, videos, etc to those students, which is a also a great strategy to build your online coaching business.
Later on turning the free course into a paid one
One of the very common strategies used by Udemy instructors is to turn a free course into a paid course after they find that it is getting a lot of sign ups and good feedback.
You don’t need to advertise the course yourself
You don’t need to advertise this course because Udemy has enough audience which is always looking out to get their hands on free online courses. So you’ll just be sitting back and seeing the organic sign ups happen.
Great way to get good at creating online courses
If you’ve never created an online course before, this is a great way to improve skills like video creation, delivery, etc because even for free courses you’ll be getting reviews and feedback from the students.
Don’t believe me? Just upload even a single video as a course on Udemy and see the results yourself.
I can assure it will be one of the greatest motivational boosts to your online coaching career.
I hope this tip helps you. If you have any questions, do leave them in the comments section below and I’ll be happy to help you out.

As usual, very useful information!
Good article. Creating that hunger (Belly Burning) and curiosity factor in students/professionals etc is one of the main skills a freelance/online coach must possess.
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
